New Group Formed to aid improvements to Downtown Leesburg

The new group, called the Downtown Improvement Association - a collaboration of property owners has been formed to suggest and over see development changes and improvements to the historic district.

The group wants to spearhead developments and help fund projects through its membership fee which is $1000 a year. Peter Burnett and Michael O’Connor are the co-founders who own a portfolio of property in the area who want to ensure that improvements are made.

The group has outlined around $100,000 worth of improvement projects which it plans to undertake. Most projects are the simple, quick and effective beautification projects such as trash collection and street cleaning.

Downtown Improvement Association’s agenda is designed as a forum for local business owners (after paying their membership fee) to get things done which are in all of their interests. There are also some non-for-profit members who have a say in the area such as local church representatives.
