Leesburg Virginia Prepares for New Years Celebrations

First Night Celebrations in Leesburg continue a 22 year tradition of a festive celebrations in downtown - the roads in central Leesburg are blocked off as a party celebrating the New Year is held.

The event in its 22nd year is alcohol-free and is focused on family fun with musical and theatrical performances in over 20 locations in downtown which are expected to attract over 3000 visitors.

Many local musicians will also be featured along with street performers for audiences young and old making it a truly delightful event offering something for everyone.

The main event is of course the grand illuminations which takes place at midnight on the courthouse steps where candles are lit by everybody who sings songs to ring in the new year.

This First Night also kicks off the 250 years of Leesburg Celebration for 2008. Admission buttons for the event are available at a cost of $8 an adult, $6 for seniors and $3 for children aged 3-12 with under 3’s admitted free.
